The Ugandan Shilling is the official currency of Uganda. Its ISO 4217 code is UGX and it is abbreviated as USh or UGX. It is divided into 100 smaller units called cents or pennies, but due to inflation, the smallest unit currently in circulation is the 50 shillings coin. The Ugandan Shilling has been the official currency of Uganda since 1966, when it replaced the East African Shilling.
